The 31-year-old attacking midfielder left Benfica for Monaco in 2014, initially on loan, before being sold to Manchester City three years later. Since then, Silva has enjoyed tremendous success in England: 410 appearances in all competitions, 72 goals, and 73 assists. With Portugal, he has 14 goals in 103 caps.

"Yes, I can confirm that a contract is waiting for Bernardo Silva," Noronha Lopes told A Bola. "He embodies everything I want for Benfica: the club's identity, a winning culture, and he is a true Benfica fan."

The proposed deal would come into effect in January 2026, giving the club the chance to bolster their squad with one of its former stars.
