Benfica’s Fredrik Aursnes 'to miss' Porto Clássico with muscle injury | OneFootball

Fredrik Aursnes will miss Sunday’s Clássico against Porto at the Estádio da Luz due to a muscle injury, Record reports.

The Norwegian midfielder was forced off early in Barcelos on Monday, 2 March, as Benfica beat Gil Vicente 2-1.

He has since been re-evaluated to assess the severity of the problem, and the length of his absence has not yet been disclosed.

Even so, the lay-off may not prevent a potential call-up for Norway as they begin preparations for the 2026 World Cup, the report added. Aursnes has indicated he is open to returning to the national team two years after stepping away.

Valued at 17 million euros, Aursnes has made 43 appearances for Benfica this season, 22 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,635 minutes he has scored four goals and supplied seven assists.
