Torreense booked their place in the Taça de Portugal final with a 2-0 win over Fafe on Thursday 23 April, as Benfica defender Tomás Araújo was seen in the stands at Estádio Manuel Marques.

According to Glorioso 1904, the centre-back was picked out by Sport TV cameras among home supporters, taking advantage of injury lay-off to watch the tie and appearing in good spirits.

Luís Tralhão's side will meet Sporting in the final. The coach previously worked in Benfica’s academy, including the under-23s. Torreense become the seventh lower-division team to reach the showpiece.

Araújo, Benfica’s number 44, will miss the match against Moreirense on Saturday 25 April. A calf muscle injury forced him off on 77 minutes in the game against Sporting.

This season he has played 37 times for Benfica, 21 in Liga Portugal Betclic, nine in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Liga Portugal Meu Super. Across 2,615 minutes he has one goal and one assist.

Transfermarkt values the defender at 28 million euros.
