Berghuis double steers Ajax in Almelo | OneFootball

Ajax beat Heracles 3-0 in Almelo as Steven Berghuis struck twice to keep the visitors fifth.

Mika Godts opened the scoring in the 16th minute, finishing from the left after Jorthy Mokio's break. Moments later, Berghuis swept in from Wout Weghorst's pass (17.). Godts is second in Eredivisie scoring on 15 this season.

After the restart, Berghuis added a third with a composed finish from Oscar Gloukh's through ball (47.).

Maarten Paes preserved the cushion, saving Alec Van Hoorenbeeck's close-range header (53.) and later tipping away Sava Cestic's drive in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time.

Following a VAR review, Takehiro Tomiyasu was sent off for Godenzonen (79.). Godts then clipped the right post (70.).

Godenzonen registered 18 attempts and 60.2% possession. Heracles tallied 15 attempts, three on target.
