A recent report from SPORT has revealed that Turkish club Besiktas are determined to secure the services of Barcelona forward Ansu Fati.

The club, in search of a winger, are willing to travel to Barcelona to persuade the player personally. However, despite their strong interest, Ansu remains firm in his decision to stay at Barça, with the club giving Besiktas the freedom to negotiate directly with him.

Ansu has previously informed Barcelona that he has no intention of leaving during the January transfer window, even though he is not getting playing time.

The club, along with his agent Jorge Mendes, attempted to change his mind but met resistance. Ansu is wary of another failed loan move that could harm his career further.

As a result, he chose not to entertain any offers, putting the matter to rest. However, Besiktas remain hopeful of convincing him.

Interest is plenty

Earlier, Besiktas submitted a loan offer before February 3. Barcelona was open to negotiations as long as Ansu agreed, but that did not happen. With the transfer window in Spain now closed, the Turkish side initially shifted focus to other targets.

However, they have renewed their efforts to sway Ansu in recent hours. Another Turkish club, Fenerbahce have stayed on the sidelines but could join the race if Ansu changes his stance.

Barcelona’s primary objective with the player is for him to gain playing time. The decision to loan him out is not financially driven, as the club would still cover part of his salary.

Instead, it is a sporting concern. Keeping him on the bench will only reduce his value further.

Challenging situation

With his contract running until 2027, it could become challenging to find a suitable destination for him in June.

If Ansu agrees to move to Turkey and performs well, it might open up more opportunities in the summer transfer window.

Although Besiktas’ renewed attempt may not succeed, Barcelona are keen to explore all possibilities.

It must be noted that while the transfer market in Spain is closed, countries like Turkey still have their window open until Tuesday at midnight, offering a brief chance for deals to materialise.
