Besiktas have abandoned a move for Vangelis Pavlidis, and have turned their attention to Benfica left-back Rafa Obrador. According to Glorioso 1904, the breakdown in talks was acknowledged after recent comments from sporting director Mário Branco.
The Istanbul club are interested in the Spanish full-back. They have a track record of business with Benfica, buying Orkun Kokçu last summer for 30 million euros.
Besiktas are reported to have tabled an offer worth seven million euros. Benfica are seeking 10 million, aiming not to lose out on Obrador’s cost. Real Madrid sold him for five million and kept 50% of any future profit.
Obrador spent last season on loan at Torino, making appearances for the Serie A side.
Besiktas do not appear to be alone in the race. Torino, who did not trigger a nine million option in the loan, are still trying to keep him. Deportivo La Coruña also have the defender in their plans, a club he has previously represented.
