Bianconere see off Genoa in Biella | OneFootball

The Juventus Women’s First Team successfully followed up their midweek win in Europe by beating Genoa 2-0 on Serie A Women Matchday 6, thanks to goals from Amalie Vangsgaard and Cristiana Girelli.

THE MATCH

The Bianconere started by setting out their intentions from the very off, and Amalie Vangsgaard was keen to make her presence felt early on. The Dane took aim from outside the box inside a quarter of an hour, stinging the palms of Camilla Forcinella in the Grifone goal.

It was no surprise, then, that the opener came from Vangsgaard about ten minutes after that effort. Lindsey Thomas was the creator, showing great energy out right to burst down the wing and plant a cross onto Vangsgaard’s head in the centre, and the forward sent it into the bottom corner of Forcinella’s net.

The wait for a second was short. Just a matter of minutes later Cristiana Girelli was able to add Genoa to her list of victims in Serie A, making the Rossoblu the 20th team against whom she has scored in Serie A Women as a Juventus player.

It wasn’t all good news in the opening half an hour though, with Lia Walti forced off and Martina Rosucci coming on in her place.

Despite the lead, Massimiliano Canzi’s side kept pushing in search of another goal. Emma Stolen Godo tried her luck, as did Vangsgaard again, but there were to be no more goals before the sides went in for the break.

After the restart, Cristina Libran was introduced by Canzi. The Spaniard had a chance of her own shortly after. Forcinella, though, was able to stop it.

Vangsgaard’s search for a second went on, next taking aim but firing over the crossbar.

Two familiar threats went close again in Libran and Vangsgaard, but neither was able to find a third for the Bianconere before the game came to an end.
