Birmingham City are eyeing a deal with Palermo for Kristoffer Lund
Birmingham City will be aiming to compete for promotion to the Premier League next season after coming 10th in 2025/26.
Chris Davies’ side missed out on a play-off place by nine points in what was their first year back in the Championship after gaining promotion from League One in 2025.
The Blues’ owners have invested heavily in the first team squad in the last couple of summers, and supporters will be expecting more of the same between now and the 1 September deadline.
The Midlands outfit have already signed Jhon Solis on a permanent basis in this window, with the midfielder initially joining on loan last January.
Birmingham have also completed a deal for Dael Fry as a free agent, with James Beadle returning for another loan spell from Brighton as well.
But there could be further additions with just five weeks now remaining in the market.

It has been reported by Danish outlet Bold that Birmingham are currently in talks with Palermo for defender Kristoffer Lund.
The Blues are looking to strengthen their backline for next season, particularly at left-back following Kai Wagner’s departure.
The full-back only signed for the club last January, but has returned to Philadelphia Union after only six months at St. Andrew’s.
Wagner was a key part of the side in the second half of the campaign, and will need replacing before the window closes on 1 September.
And it’s now been claimed that Lund is on Birmingham’s radar, with the player capable of being used as a left-back or a left-wing-back.
The 24-year-old spent last season on loan with German side Koln, where he contributed two assists from 33 appearances in the Bundesliga, helping the team finish 14th in the table.
Despite Koln having an option to buy clause as part of the loan, it’s believed that Birmingham have opened talks with Palermo to sign Lund.
It remains to be seen what the cost of a deal could be for the Championship side, or if it will be a permanent or a loan move.
But the Midlands outfit are keen on the defender, who joined Palermo in the 2023 summer transfer window and has made 68 appearances in Serie B.
Birmingham will return to league action on 15 August with a home clash against Sheffield United.

Losing Wagner was an unfortunate outcome of Birmingham’s transfer business so far, but there wasn’t much to be done about it.
If the Blues can bring in Lund as his replacement, then he could be a very smart option given his impressive campaign in the Bundesliga.
The 24-year-old is a versatile option, and will be confident getting forward and contributing to the attack, which will make him suited to Davies’ style of play.
Of course, any deal depends on the cost, but Lund has the potential to be a more than adequate replacement for Wagner, who has left big shoes to fill after making a strong impression in a short span of time at St. Andrew’s.
