FLW's Blues Fan Pundit shares his thoughts on the situation
Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Lee Carsley knows Birmingham City very well.
The 52-year-old spent two years there as a player, from 2008 to 2010, before returning in 2017 as Head Professional Development Coach.
Just three months after returning to Blues as an academy coach, Carsley was named caretaker manager of the first-team following the sacking of Harry Redknapp, and he oversaw three games in charge.
With reports suggesting via Alan Nixon that the now-England U-21 head coach wants to return to club football after signing with a new agency, and scrutiny on Chris Davies seemingly intensified, there's every chance the West Midlands club could look to bring Carsley back to the club once more.
FLW’s Birmingham Fan Pundit, Jason Moore, shares his thoughts on the situation…

Whilst our resident Bluenose Fan Pundit has called for Chris Davies to be sacked, he has serious reservations about Lee Carsley stepping into the St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park hot seat.
"I’m Chris Davies out," Moore said. "But, I don’t know, Lee Carsley doesn’t fill me with inspiration, doesn’t make me feel like I know I've got a manager that’s going to be able to get us up," he added.
"But, I don’t know the bloke. I don’t know him as a bloke, do I, and I don't know what he’s like as a manager. So, I guess if that’s who Blues wanted as their man, go for it, I’d back it."
It's worth noting that when he was Birmingham's caretaker manager, Carsley told BBC West Midlands that he still saw his long-term future there, regardless of whether he ended up getting the job permanently or not.
Obviously, he turned out to be Steve Cotteril's assistant and left the club when Gary Monk arrived, but now might be the perfect time for Carsley to come back to his home city.
Aside from spending time as Coventry City’s caretaker manager, as well as a little spell with Brentford in 2015, Carsley won the European Championships with England’s U21s in 2023 and 2025.

Given the fact that Blues are now 10 points adrift of the play-offs with just seven games remaining, it’s no surprise that Chris Davies seems to be under more pressure every passing day.
In their last match against Derby County - another one of Carsley’s old playing teams - Birmingham failed to register a shot on target and were booed off by their own sold-out away support.
Davies himself admitted post-match that he has worried about his own future "since the day I got the job to be honest with you."
The struggling head coach continued with, "I knew when we were in League One if I wasn’t top of the league and winning pretty much every game I was going to be under pressure, so I’m just used to it."
It remains to be seen if said pressure will actually force Tom Wagner and co to sack Davies, but reservations remain about any possible move for Carsley.
Moore concluded by telling FLW, "But yeah, it doesn’t particularly fill me with excitement. I guess if that's who Blues wanted as their man then yeah, I’d encourage it, but it doesn’t fill me with massive excitement if it was Lee Carsley."
