Bittencourt 'to join' Energie Cottbus after Werder exit | OneFootball

According to Bild, Leonardo Bittencourt is close to joining newly promoted 2. Bundesliga side Energie Cottbus, with a medical expected soon.

The midfielder will leave Werder Bremen this summer when his contract expires, ending a seven-year stay.

A switch to Cottbus would mark an emotional return to the club where he began his professional career.

The report adds that he is prepared to accept a significant pay cut to make the move and is expected to take a management role at the club after retirement.

Bittencourt has made 304 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 32 goals and supplying 36 assists.
