A sudden and altogether bizarre twist in the plans for the upcoming Ballon d’Or ceremony has on Sunday been noted.

This comes amid confirmation that Paris Saint-Germain, as things stand, will as a club not be able to attend the ceremony.

The French champions’ squad features a whole host of nominees for prizes at the Ballon d’Or gala, most notably Ousmane Dembélé, considered the favourite to lift the ‘Golden Ball’.

On Sunday evening, however, PSG saw their scheduled Ligue 1 meeting with bitter rivals Olympique Marseille postponed, owing to adverse weather conditions.

As per COPE, French football regulations dictate that the fixture most now be played out on Monday evening.

As much will directly clash with the Ballon d’Or ceremony, meaning Luis Enrique and his squad are currently set to miss out.

The impact of these developments on Ousmane Dembélé’s potential attendance remains unclear, though, with the former Barcelona man sidelined through injury at present.
