A Black Country pub will not screen England’s World Cup bronze medal match against France on Saturday, closing early after fan misbehaviour, according to ExpressAndStar.com.
The Cabin in Alderwood Precinct, Sedgley, said it would call last orders at 8.45pm and shut before the third-place play-off, scheduled for 10pm BST in Miami.
In a Facebook post, the pub said it regretted the decision but cited the behaviour of a small number of customers during recent games. It described itself as a family and community venue and said safety must come first, adding that violence, aggression, threatening behaviour or intimidation would not be accepted.
The message added that a minority should not affect the wider community’s experience. It thanked customers for their support and said staff who have dealt with issues deserved to enjoy one match.
The Cabin, off Northway, has been busy throughout the tournament, with residents packing in for fixtures including the 2-0 group win over Panama on June 27.
