The landlady of The Cabin in Alderwood Precinct, Sedgley, has opted not to show England’s World Cup third-place play-off against France on Saturday 18 July. The pub said in a post that recent poor behaviour by a small minority had forced an early closure.

Last orders will be at 8.45pm, with doors closed ahead of the 10pm BST kick-off in Miami.

The decision came with an apology, and the family and community venue prioritised protecting that environment. Violence, aggression, threats or intimidation will not be tolerated, and the actions of a few should not affect the wider community.

It wants families, friends, neighbours, staff and customers to feel safe and welcome, and thanked regulars for their understanding. The steps are intended to keep The Cabin a safe, friendly local.

The pub, off Northway, has been busy throughout the tournament as locals followed the Three Lions. Crowds gathered there for the group game against Panama on June 27, which England won 2-0.
