Blackburn Rovers are targeting the signing of an 18-year-old non-league striker
Blackburn Rovers moved one point closer to securing their status in the Championship on Friday night.
The Lancashire outfit drew 1-1 with Coventry City at Ewood Park, which confirmed the visitors’ promotion to the Premier League.
Michael O’Neill’s side went ahead early in the second half through Ryoya Morishita, but Bobby Thomas’ 84th minute strike sealed a point for the Sky Blues.
Rovers will now have to wait for their relegation rivals to compete this weekend, with the team five points clear of the bottom three before the remainder of the league’s action.
Blackburn have not been in League One since gaining promotion in 2018, but are still at risk of sliding into the third tier.
But that won’t stop the club from already putting in work for the upcoming summer transfer window, which could be a crucial period for improving the first team squad.

It has been reported by Football Insider that Blackburn are in the hunt for the signing of Ronnie Blois this summer.
Rovers are believed to be one of several sides in the EFL interested in the teenager, who has enjoyed a strong campaign at non-league side Leiston.
The youngster has scored 13 times in the Southern League Premier Division Central, and is now attracting interest from a number of teams.
Blackburn have been keeping tabs on the 18-year-old’s progress ahead of a potential move at the end of the campaign.
The Championship side have earned a reputation for their development of younger talent, and are always scouting players that could be added to their academy system.
Blois’ performances this season at Leiston have caught their eye, and that could now lead to a move to sign him in the next transfer window.
Blackburn will have their full focus on earning their survival in the second division, but the recruitment team will already be working on potential targets.
O’Neill’s side are now winless in their last four league games, but have drawn three times in that period, giving them some breathing room in the relegation battle.
But Rovers also only have two fixtures remaining, while their rivals still have two games in hand.
Next up for Blackburn is a trip to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on 22 April in a 7.45pm kick-off.
Blackburn have developed a lot of their own talent in recent years, which has proven a successful model for maintaining a competitive side in the Championship.
So it makes a lot of sense that they’d target someone like Blois, who has performed well for such a young age at non-league level.
While it remains to be seen whether he could ever make the step up to the second tier, it is a potentially low cost signing that bears little risk if it doesn’t work out.
And given Blackburn’s track record, Blois will surely be tempted to make the move to Ewood Park over some of their other rivals in the EFL, if he does depart Leiston this summer.
