Arsenal are understood to be in the market for an experienced addition in midfield, with the German international heavily linked with a move to north London.

Arsenal face competition from AC Milan for Leon Goretzka?

We have reported earlier this month that the north London club are leading the race to sign Goretzka in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners had also explored a potential deal in the January window, but Goretzka opted to remain in Munich and focus on finishing the season strongly.

Serie A giants Inter Milan are also thought to be interested in signing the Bayern midfielder, who scored 48 goals for the Bavarian giants in his career.

Now Christian Falk has told CFBayern that AC Milan have also expressed their interest in signing Goretzka for free next summer.

Milan are second in the Serie A table with 60 points from 30 matches, and are in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Leon Goretzka has plenty of options

Goretzka has enjoyed a highly successful spell at Bayern, making over 300 appearances and scoring 48 goals across all competitions.

Since joining from Schalke 04, he has won six Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions League.

In the current campaign, the German midfielder has made 18 Bundesliga starts, along with six substitute appearances, contributing two goals and one assist.

He recently delivered an impressive performance in Bayern’s 4-0 victory over Union Berlin, underlining his desire to end his time at the club on a high note.

While Goretzka is believed to favour a move to the Premier League, opportunities in Italy remain appealing, with both Milan clubs in a strong position to offer UEFA Champions League football next season.
