A young name is currently causing a stir at FC Bayern, but also some cautionary voices. Former national team player Fredi Bobic has now commented on the development of Lennart Karl.

The 17-year-old attacking gem is well on the way to establishing himself in the Munich squad. Calls for him to be considered for the World Cup are increasing, and not just after his strong performance in the Champions League against Arsenal, in which he scored another goal. Fredi Bobic, ex-national player and currently head of soccer at Legia Warsaw, sees great potential in Karl, but warns against caution.

„I’m always a bit cautious when a young lad has played for a month or two like this. Sometimes they get a kink in their game,“ the former international told Sky , while also calling for Karl to be used in moderation.

A comparison to Timo Werner is obvious for Bobic: „I had Timo Werner in Stuttgart, he also had a kink, which is quite normal. I don’t wish it on him. If he continues to play like this, Nagelsmann won’t be able to get past him.“

He was particularly impressed by Karl’s attitude on the pitch. „You should let the 17-year-old play ‚fresh and happy‘, that’s what invigorates Bayern,“ explained Bobic. The expert praised Karl’s carefree attitude: „The lad is so young and plays without giving it much thought. Great shot, great first touch – an outstanding player.“

Dietmar Hamann also praised Karl’s performances in the top flight: „You’re born with this talent. Of course you can still refine it. It’s amazing that at 17 he’s not only playing, but also making his mark. He was the best player at Arsenal.“

In the league match against FC St. Pauli, Karl once again showed his class, but was also unlucky: a shot in the first half landed on the post, and some creative passes created danger. But unlike recently, this time he lacked penetration. He was substituted in the 70th minute. Nevertheless, he continues to attract attention with his current performances and will get more playing time under Vincent Kompany.
