Boca will be without Adam Bareiro for Tuesday’s Copa Libertadores trip to Ecuador, with Milton Giménez emerging as the leading candidate to replace him.

LaNumer12.com.ar reports that the striker is in line to start up front in Guayaquil.

Bareiro was sent off against Cruzeiro in Brazil for two bookings, ruling the Paraguayan out of the fourth group-stage fixture on Tuesday.

The match is scheduled for 21:00 at Guayaquil’s Estadio Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo.

Boca beat Central Córdoba 2-1 at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in the final round of the Torneo Apertura regular phase, then shifted focus to the Copa. Giménez scored in Santiago del Estero.

The ex-Banfield forward has put a four-month pubalgia lay-off behind him and is gradually building minutes, without yet completing a full game since returning.

Since surgery he has featured seven times for a total of 213 minutes, scoring three goals, including in each of his last three starts. He said he thinks it will be his turn again on Tuesday, adding that he is happy to be playing and wants to make the most of it.
