Boca Juniors are weighing up defensive reinforcements as injuries mount, and can still add before 2 September. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, they could explore a loan for Porto centre-back Nehuén Pérez.
Injuries to Ayrton Costa, plus recent absences for Lautaro Di Lollo and Marco Pellegrini, have thinned options. Arruabarrena has turned to youth, with Facundo Herrera debuting against Recoleta and featuring versus Racing, and Matías Satas a possible promotion.
Pérez has slipped down the pecking order at Porto after injury. The Hurlingham-born defender, called up by Lionel Scaloni during 2026 World Cup qualifying, came through Argentinos Juniors, moved to Famalicão in 2020, spent time at Granada, then played 97 matches for Udinese from 2021 to 2025 before joining Porto.
With limited minutes ahead, both player and club are open to a loan, with terms still to be set. A deal would have Arruabarrena’s approval, while he also keeps an alternative from La Paternal in mind.
Francisco Álvarez remains on Boca’s radar. Argentinos Juniors want 7 million dollars for the 26-year-old’s full rights.
He is interested in joining Boca, who are seeking a deal that avoids paying that sum, though negotiations look difficult.
Kevin Lomónaco has also been discussed, but he is not the first choice for the coach or the board.
After the 1-1 draw with Racing, Arruabarrena said he is in regular contact with the president and that Marcelo Delgado knows what he needs. He ruled out a move for a midfielder and indicated any arrivals would be in defence.
