Boca edged Racing to reach the Copa Argentina semi-final with Banfield, but fighting on three fronts has created a major scheduling puzzle.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, only two slots exist before four November, the week of seven October between Unión and Instituto, or the week of 28 October between Independiente and River Plate.

Early October carries hurdles. Banfield are set to face Rosario Central on Monday five October, making a Wednesday seven tie unworkable unless the AFA move that match to the previous Saturday, plus FIFA call-ups and Boca’s trip to Instituto on Friday nine.

Late October is also problematic, the club want to avoid a knockout just days before the Superclásico against River.

If no early-October solution emerges, Boca risk a punishing burst of four decisive games in eight days, two league clásicos, the semi-final and a possible federal final.

A drastic plan is under study with the AFA, using four November, originally held for the final, to stage the semi with Banfield, then pushing the final back.

A draft calendar lists Unión on two October, Instituto on nine October, Talleres on 17 October, Vasco da Gama on 13 and 20 October, Independiente on 25 October, River on one November and Defensa y Justicia on eight November.

Boca also have strong prospects of reaching the Clausura playoffs and could still make the Copa Argentina and Copa Sudamericana finals.
