Hauge then turned provider, floating a perfect cross into the box for Hakon Even to slot past Yann Sommer, giving the visitors a two-goal lead.

Moments later, Alessandro Bastoni pulled one back for Inter, but it was too late for them to overturn the three-goal deficit.

Bodo/Glimt have now become the first Norwegian side to progress in a knockout stage tie in the Champions League since the competition’s rebrand in 1992.

The Glimt are also the first club from outside the big five leagues to win four consecutive games in a European Cup/UEFA Champions League campaign against teams from those leagues.

The four-time Eliteserien champions had beaten Manchester City 3-1 and Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the league phase before edging Inter in the play-offs.

In addition, Bodo/Glimt are the first Norwegian team to eliminate an Italian side in the the knockout stages of the European Cup/UEFA Champions League.

Kjetil Knutsen’s side will face either Man City or Sporting CP in the quarter-finals.
