Bologna interest in Barron ‘could influence’ Rangers move for Lewis Ferguson | OneFootball

Bologna’s ongoing interest in Connor Barron could yet shape Rangers’ bid to land Lewis Ferguson from the Serie A side.

The Daily Record reports that Bologna tried to sign Barron when he left Aberdeen for Ibrox in 2024, asking him to wait before he chose Rangers.

They have tracked him since and an approach last season was turned down by then sporting director Kevin Thelwell, with Rangers indicating he was not for sale. Barron remains on Bologna’s list and his camp is aware of the interest.

Rangers’ stance this summer is unclear, though new manager Derek McInnes is a known admirer, having worked with Barron as he came through at Aberdeen.

Meanwhile, Rangers are keen to bring Bologna captain Ferguson to Ibrox and have made an enquiry. Any deal looks difficult, with Bologna valuing their skipper in the eight-figure bracket and rival interest from Roma and Atalanta.

Funding may depend on outgoings, with Belgium’s Nicolas Raskin linked with Atalanta and Bologna, which could be another complication.
