A new partnership has been launched between the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute Foundation and Bologna FC, giving both the team and its fans the opportunity to support the Foundation’s projects for patients at the Bologna hospital.

The first initiative took place on Thursday afternoon, when Bologna players together with IOR General Director Andrea Rossi and representatives of the Rizzoli Foundation visited children admitted to the hospital wards to show their support and friendship, and to wish them a happy Easter.

They visited the Pediatric Orthopaedics and Traumatology and Osteoncology departments and met more than 35 young patients as well as doctors and healthcare staff.

It was a special opportunity to give the children chocolate eggs, provided by ICAM, and Oceanini plush toys donated by Q8, and to chat with them. The players brought a smile to their face during a difficult time in their lives.

“Initiatives like this are extremely important to us,” said Claudio Fenucci, CEO of Bologna FC 1909. “They reflect our commitment to the local community. Our partnership with the Rizzoli Foundation is designed to build a shared, long-term path, involving not just the team but also our fans and partners in supporting meaningful projects for patients.”

“It was a very rewarding afternoon for Rizzoli and the Foundation,” said Andrea Rossi, General Director of IOR. “A large group of Bologna players came to visit us. Moments like these help humanise care because they give our young patients a distraction during their hospital stay, and that’s priceless. A big thank you to the players and the club for making this possible.”

“Announcing new collaborations with such prestigious partners makes us very proud and motivates us to do even better,” added Federica Guidi, President of the Foundation. “I’d like to thank Bologna for today’s visit and for showing such sensitivity and care to these young patients. I’m confident this initiative will lead to important collaborations and help us bring the Foundation’s work and projects to an even wider audience. Spot, and football in particular,  can be a powerful way to raise awareness and encourage people to support the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute through the Foundation’s efforts.”
