Bonera likens Milan Futuro to first team: “Situations that decide matches” | OneFootball

Milan Futuro were defeated by Pescara earlier today despite leading 2-1 in the first half. A red card proved costly, as well as a lack of attention on set pieces, and Daniele Bonera highlighted this in his post-match conference.

Francesco Camarda gave Milan Futuro the lead after just six minutes with a great finish. Pescara found a way back ten minutes later, gifted a penalty by Andrei Coubis, but at least the Rossoneri defended restored the lead in the second half.

Once again, however, Pescara found a way back and were fueled by a red card for Davide Bartesaghi late on. With just a few minutes left, they found the winner and Milan Futuro left the game with zero points despite having their hands on all three.

Speaking at the press conference, as described by MilanNews, the head coach Bonera shared his thoughts on the display and what went wrong for his side. He likened the situation to the first team, stating that certain situations and mistakes made the difference.

On the relegation battle…

“These are situations that decide matches and seasons. Being down to 10 men has become too much of a regular occurrence, we need to be better. Today we conceded three goals from set pieces, these are situations that determine a match that for me, was balanced.

“When you take the lead twice against Pescara you have to bring home some points. It’s not easy, but we’re trying to prepare as best we can for the next match against Legnago which will be decisive.”

On Camarda…

“Camarda is part of the project. We learned yesterday after the first-team match that Camarda and Bartesaghi would be with us today. We had prepared for the match with other players, I’m sorry for the guys who didn’t start. We are a large team, luckily I have the guys’ full availability. Tactically we did well.”

On the boys between the first team and Milan Futuro…

“They are happy. The most complicated thing is managing the group, but we knew that. The biggest difficulty is creating a team spirit, it’s not easy. I think of those who haven’t played and thought they would play from the first minute. My thanks go to them for everything they do during the week.”

On the match…

“Against a strong opponent like Pescara and going ahead twice, there are certainly many positive things. However, we are here to comment on a defeat. Set pieces are now very decisive. These are situations that change the result.”
