According to BBC Sport, Declan Rice is set to return to the starting line-up for the important match on Wednesday.
England suffered a big scare after Rice was seen limping out of the stadium following their goalless draw against Ghana.
The 27-year-old returned to training and manager Thomas Tuchel assured fans in his press-conference the midfielder’s issues were only minor.
However, the German boss opted for caution, resting the Arsenal star for the Three Lions’ final group match against Panama, which they won 2-0.
Elliot Anderson and Jude Bellingham started in midfield against the North American side, but Rice is expected to return to the team for the knockout clash.
Reece James and Jarell Quansah remain major doubts against DR Congo.
James picked up a hamstring issue against Ghana and is facing a race against time to be fit for the game on Wednesday.
Quansah deputised for the Chelsea player at right-back against Panama, but he was forced off with an ankle injury, making his availability doubtful too.
England made a solid start to their World Cup campaign in North America, sealing a thrilling 4-2 success against Croatia.
But they suffered a reality check after Ghana held them to a frustrating draw.
England bounced back to win against Panama, but their performance wasn’t entirely convincing as they struggled to break down the Black Stars’ stubborn defence in the first half.
Tuchel’s men must step up their game in the knockout stage, where there is no longer any margin for error.
