Bordeaux expelled from French national leagues as risk of liquidation intensifies | OneFootball

The DNCG's appeals committee has confirmed Bordeaux's expulsion from the French national leagues and recorded the club's administrative relegation. According to L'Équipe, the ruling was issued on Wednesday, upholding an initial decision from 30 June.

Investment fund Sparta Capital failed to raise the 10 million euros required for next season, and its search for an alternative backer also fell through.

The decision means Bordeaux would, at best, compete in R1 next season, with the Ligue Nouvelle-Aquitaine to determine the level.

A meeting has been scheduled with the commercial court regarding the possible opening of liquidation proceedings. The court could order the club's liquidation by the end of the month.

In that scenario, the association would have to cover obligations tied to the affiliation number, including 4.5 million euros owed for foreign transfers and 500,000 euros in training compensation.
