Borussia Dortmund appoint David Blacha as advisor, reuniting him with Ole Book | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund have appointed David Blacha as advisor to sporting director Ole Book, reuniting the pair from Saarland side SV Elversberg. According to BuLi News, his contract begins on 1 July 2026.

The 35-year-old arrives from Elversberg, where their squad planning helped deliver promotion to the Bundesliga. He now returns to the eight-time German champions in a backroom capacity.

Blacha progressed through all of Dortmund's youth teams between 2000 and 2009 and ended his playing career in 2023.

Sporting director Lars Ricken said Dortmund were delighted to bring him back and expressed confidence that Blacha's qualities can help the club progress. He recalled Blacha as an ambitious academy player and welcomed his return.

After retiring, Blacha became a scout for Elversberg in 2023 under then sporting director Book. He said he is looking forward to the role at Dortmund and aims to contribute from day one.
