Botafogo take drastic action with Danilo after pre-match request | OneFootball

Botafogo have sidelined midfielder Danilo from training and selection after he asked to be excused from their last Brasileirão match.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the midfielder will not take part in sessions or games before the World Cup, ruling him out of upcoming Brasileirão and Libertadores fixtures.

The decision followed his plea for release just hours before Sunday’s meeting with Corinthians, despite being in camp with the rest of the squad.

Danilo’s future is now uncertain. He is considered one of Botafogo’s leading players and has made Ancelotti’s final list for the 2026 World Cup.

Flamengo have the midfielder on their radar for the next window and know the asking price is R$ 240 million, which has prompted a step back in talks. Palmeiras are also exploring a move to bring him back.

Meanwhile, Flamengo turn to immediate duties, hosting Estudiantes of Argentina in the Libertadores on Wednesday, 20, at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
