Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has on Friday spoken out on the speculation linking him with a surprise move back to Spain, with Real Madrid.
Iraola, for his part, is of course in the midst of nothing short of a spectacular campaign in England to date.
Completely defying the odds, the former Rayo Vallecano boss has guided an underdog Bournemouth outfit to 5th spot in the Premier League table.
The Cherries, previously considered potential relegation candidates, can in turn dream of European football for next season.
With such excellence on Iraola’s part, though, comes inevitable chatter surrounding his future at the Vitality Stadium.
Recent reports have pointed towards the 42-year-old as a possible replacement for Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid, in the case of the Italian moving on in the summer.
On Friday, however, Iraola moved to shut down any such rumours in their tracks.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of Bournemouth’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow, the ex-defender was drawn on the speculation linking him with Real Madrid.
And Iraola went on to assure:
“I don’t pay attention to these things. I’ve been in this business for many years as a player and as a coach, and I know how these things work and what matters and what doesn’t.
“For me, nothing changes. The important thing this week is tomorrow against Wolves. It’s going to be a demanding game and it will be a good opportunity for us to continue to add points.”
