Bournemouth have confirmed defender Álex Jiménez will not be part of the squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Fulham while the club investigates social media posts linked to the player.
The 21-year-old Spaniard has become an important figure for Andoni Iraola’s side this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions and starting Bournemouth’s last five league matches.
Reports circulating online have claimed the investigation relates to alleged messages involving underage girls, although Bournemouth have not publicly confirmed the nature of the posts. The club released a brief statement confirming only that an internal investigation is ongoing.
Jiménez joined Bournemouth permanently from AC Milan in February after initially arriving on loan, signing a long-term contract running until 2031. Before moving to Italy, he spent a decade in Real Madrid’s academy setup.
The timing is significant for Bournemouth, who are currently sixth in the Premier League and pushing to secure European football for the first time in the club’s history.
With the investigation continuing, it remains unclear when or if Jiménez will return to first-team action this season.
