Bournemouth turn down Chelsea bid for Alex Scott | OneFootball

Chelsea have had a surprise bid for Alex Scott turned down by Bournemouth, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.

The Blues reportedly submitted a bid upwards of £60 million for the English midfielder, but Bournemouth’s response made their position on the player clear.

The Cherries are determined to keep one of their most important players ahead of the new season, although there’s a decent chance Chelsea could return with another proposal.

Chelsea aren’t the only club hot on Scott’s trail at the moment, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City all linked with the Englishman.

However, Bournemouth have repeatedly made it clear that Scott is not for sale and have informed interested clubs that they expect him to remain at Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth have been trying to tie Scott to a new long-term contract to ward off potential suitors, but the 22-year-old has turned down a new deal.

Despite his hesitance, the Cherries are still confident he will remain at the club as he still has two years left on his current contract.

Bournemouth are not under pressure to cash in on the ‘amazing‘ England Under-21 international.

Their financial position has been strengthened by major player sales over the past year, while qualification for the Europa League has also boosted the club’s income.

That stability has allowed them to resist approaches for key members of Marco Rose’s squad. Scott had another impressive campaign last season, playing in 37 of Bournemouth’s 38 Premier League matches.

He scored three goals and added one assist as the club secured a historic sixth-place finish and qualified for European competition for the first time.

That achievement came with its consequences as manager Andoni Iraola left the club to join Liverpool.

Rose has since taken charge of the Bournemouth squad and is preparing the team for the new campaign with a pre-season training camp in Austria.
