Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi has undergone foot surgery and is expected to miss three to four months, putting his return around October or November.

The club said in a statement that the 20-year-old had the operation on Wednesday. He was injured during Bournemouth’s pre-season trip to Austria and returned to England for treatment.

The setback follows a superb first Premier League season in which he scored a club-best 13 goals. Five of those arrived in the final eight matches as Bournemouth finished sixth and qualified for the Europa League under former head coach Andoni Iraola.

His form drew interest from Arsenal and Barcelona, but Bournemouth have maintained they will not entertain offers for the Frenchman. The attack has already been bolstered this summer by the £21million signing of 22-year-old Alvaro Rodriguez from Elche.

Kroupi joined Bournemouth from Lorient, also part of the Black Knight Football multiclub group, in January 2025, remaining there until the end of that season. He has been capped up to under-21 level for France and featured in the side that reached the 2024 Under-19 European Championship final.

Under new head coach Marco Rose, Bournemouth start the season on Sunday 23 August with a trip to Manchester City.
