Bournemouth’s Jimenez ‘to join’ Fiorentina on loan with €20 million option | OneFootball

Fiorentina are closing on a deal to bring Bournemouth’s Alex Jimenez back to Serie A.

Sky Sport and Gianluca Di Marzio report that it is a loan with a €20 million option to buy.

The move is at an advanced stage, with the Spaniard in Florence for medical checks after completing an initial round earlier in the day.

The 2005-born right-back would strengthen Fabio Grosso’s options out wide, reuniting him with Italian football after a brief Premier League stint.

Jimenez impressed at Milan, and Bournemouth made his switch permanent in January for around €19 million.

The Cherries are moving him on barely six months later, amid an off-the-pitch scandal over alleged online messages with a teenage girl.

For Fiorentina, it is an opportunistic move, securing a young, Serie A-proven defender while keeping any permanent decision entirely optional.
