The eighth round of the Brasileirão 2026 finished on Sunday night, with Santos 16th on seven points, the first team outside the relegation zone.
Diario Do Peixe notes the updated table after the weekend's fixtures. Palmeiras lead on 19 points, three ahead of second-placed São Paulo. Fluminense are third with 16, and Flamengo fourth on 14 after drawing with Corinthians.
The relegation zone begins with Botafogo on six points with two games in hand. Mirassol are 18th, also on six with one game in hand, Remo are 19th on six and the next opponents for Santos. Cruzeiro are bottom with four and remain winless.
Round eight produced 20 goals, an average of two per match. Home teams won six times, there were two draws, and away sides claimed two victories.
