Braz says he tried to sign Neymar for Flamengo during 2022/23 while the player was at PSG, but a club‑controlled renewal clause and funding constraints left the move out of reach.

"I spoke to his father, who manages his career, when he was at PSG. He had a contract with an option he could exercise at one point, then later PSG could exercise it, and PSG had made it clear it would," he told Lance!.
