Brazão cites fixture pile-up after Santos’ 3-2 defeat at Grêmio | OneFootball

Gabriel Brazão said a packed schedule is hurting Santos after their 3-2 defeat to Grêmio in the Campeonato Brasileiro on Saturday.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the number 77 spoke in the mixed zone at Arena do Grêmio and pointed to fixture congestion and successive matches hindering recovery amid recent injuries.

He said he believes the fitness staff are not the problem, and noted other teams are also dealing with injuries. Playing every two or three days, he added, is complicating recovery, especially with absentees.

The result has increased pressure on Santos and left the club in the relegation zone.

Santos have two games before the World Cup pause, Deportivo Cuenca on Tuesday in the Copa Sudamericana, then Vitória at home on Saturday in the league.
