Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil are ready to kick off their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a match against Morocco on Saturday at New Jersey Stadium.
Brazil come into the tournament in solid and consistent form. Over their last four international friendlies, the Seleção recorded three strong wins and only one narrow loss. After falling 2-1 to France, they responded well by beating Croatia 3-1. They followed that up with a commanding 6-2 win over Panama and most recently secured a 2-1 victory against Egypt. Their attacking play looks sharp and dangerous heading into the opening fixture.
Ancelotti has some selection concerns ahead of the game. Star forward Neymar Jr. will miss the opener after being ruled out with a right calf injury.
There was further bad news for the squad when defender Wesley suffered a muscle injury during training.
He was forced to withdraw from the camp, with midfielder Éderson called up as his replacement. These problems add to an already lengthy injury list.
Éder Militão, Rodrygo, and Estêvão had already been ruled out earlier due to serious injuries before the tournament began.
Even with these absences, Brazil still possess a very strong squad. Their attack remains packed with quality, as players like Vinícius Júnior, Raphinha, and Matheus Cunha are expected to lead the line.
Possible Brazil starting XI: Alisson; Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel, Sandro; Casemiro, Guimaraes; Raphinha, Paqueta, Vinicius Jr.; Cunha
The match will kick off at 11pm BST on Saturday, 13th June.
