Brazil women’s under-20s face South Korea this Saturday

The Women’s U-20 National Team faces South Korea in a friendly this Saturday (6), at 7 a.m. (Brasília time), at Estádio Conde Dias Garcia in Aveiro, Portugal. The match is part of a series of three warm-up games for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in September this year in Poland. Head coach Camilla Orlando previewed the clash.

“Against South Korea, I’m expecting an intense game, a more technical game, so it will be interesting to understand a team that plays with two touches on the ball, a team that has interesting tactical discipline. I’m eager to see how we will handle it and how we will overcome the defeat from the first game, which is part of the process. We know that here we are in a process of developing the National Team in preparation for the World Cup, but we also want to come away with wins. Every time we play, we step onto the field to win,” she said.

This is the second friendly of this FIFA window. On Wednesday (3), the Canarinha faced Finland’s U-23 team and lost 4-1. The coach explained what the team learned from that match.

“The takeaway is that we were able to strategically put into practice what we wanted. It was a test game, a match for us to try out some situations and test some players. We managed to achieve that goal, but obviously what we take from it is our defensive set pieces and some details of a more aggressive game, like Finland’s. It was a 4-1 match in which three goals came from set pieces, so the main lesson is defensive set pieces and how to avoid so much wear and tear in that situation,” she said.

The team arrived in Portugal on Sunday (31) and, so far, has had four training sessions. Brazil will return to the field on Tuesday (9) to play against the hosts.

The number of matches in this period was planned precisely to simulate the World Cup group stage. At the tournament, Brazil is in Group B and will face Tanzania, Canada, and England.
