The five-time world champions have taken four points from their opening two games, but require a positive result to be sure of a place in the Round of 32.
Brazil bounced back from a disappointing draw with Morocco by beating Haiti 3-0, with Matheus Cunha (2) and Vinicius Junior on target for the Selecao.
However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have struggled to convince to date and will want to produce a performance that demonstrates their World Cup credentials.
Brazil have never lost to Scotland in 10 previous meetings between the teams.
Raphinha has been ruled out for Brazil with a hamstring injury in a big blow to Ancelotti’s side. The Barcelona winger’s tournament is not thought to be over, though he will work on a recovery ahead of hoped return in the knockout rounds, should Brazil progress.
His absence could open the door to a return for Neymar. Brazil’s record scorer is yet to feature at the tournament but is fit again and in contention to feature.
“We’re all very happy to see him training and back on the pitch with us,” teammate Lucas Paqueta said.
“Neymar is a very important player for the Brazilian national team. He has an extraordinary history with this shirt and he can still help us a lot.
“We hope he’ll be available as soon as possible to contribute to the team.”
Possible Brazil starting XI: Alisson; Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel, Douglas Santos; Guimaraes, Casemiro; Rayan, Paqueta, Vinicius Jr; Cunha
