Brenden Aaronson has highlighted the people of Leeds as the standout part of life in the city, and says sharing the pitch with his brother is among his fondest career memories.
As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Leeds United and USA midfielder, speaking while on international duty, said: “The people are great. The banter is great. I'd also say the football world in general. It's a special place to be when it comes to playing soccer.”
He joined Leeds from Red Bull Salzburg in May 2022, then departed on a season-long loan to Union Berlin the following summer after relegation in May 2023. Reintegrated for 2024-25 after the play-off final defeat, he helped United seal promotion as Championship champions.
On the club’s Premier League return in 2025-26, the American produced four goals and five assists, then was named in the USA squad for this summer’s World Cup. He has also married during a busy close season.
He gained his latest minutes in Saturday’s final pre-World Cup friendly against Germany and now has 58 caps at 25. He is now with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad ahead of Saturday’s opener.
“It was definitely one of the most memorable moments ever,” he said of playing alongside younger brother Paxten. “Being able to share the field with him, walk out with him and stand together during the national anthem is something I'll never forget.”
