Every year, fans are asked for their thoughts on sustainability at Brentford. The survey helps us understand if our work is being recognised and identify areas for improvement that are a priority for supporters.

  • Brentford fans continue to rate the importance of sustainability highly with a score of 8.2 (out of 10), with 30 per cent of fans giving a maximum score
  • Fans’ rating of the effectiveness of the club’s sustainability initiatives increased to a record 7.2, up 0.2 points from 2025
  • 65 per cent of fans are aware of the club’s efforts to protect and enhance the environment
  • 88 per cent of these aware fans said they feel proud of the action the club is taking to address the climate crisis
  • 74 per cent of fans are interested in learning how they can help reduce Brentford’s environmental impact
  • The introduction of venison, replacing beef, in the matchday menu has been well received as a sustainable initiative that reduces the carbon footprint of our supply chain

For the first time, we asked fans how important they thought sustainability was to other supporters. While findings show that, when asked about their own views, Brentford supporters rate its importance at 8.2 (out of 10), supporters believe that other Bees fans only rate its importance at 7.0.

Fans reported that improved matchday infrastructure would help them make more sustainable choices to support the club’s work. Nearly half of fans showed willingness to rideshare with other supporters and 36 per cent would cycle to games to reduce the environmental impact of their matchday travel.

The survey continues to show that fans want to stay informed about the club’s sustainable activity. More than 1,100 fans said they want to hear more from the club on sustainability, and 850 fans expressed an interest in joining the Sustaina-Bees, an independent group for Brentford fans with knowledge and concern for the environmental crisis.

Proud of our progress, proud of our supporters

On the 2026 survey results, James Beale, head of sustainability and community, said: "Our findings are broadly consistent with last year’s survey and with what fans have told us throughout the year, that sustainability is still important to supporters. We’ve made a lot of progress, and I’m very proud to see that Bees fans continue to be engaged and willing to take action.

"Making the switch to wild venison this season proved that small adjustments can make a significant impact on our carbon footprint without taking away from the matchday experience. I hope we see similar results as we continue to ramp up our recycling provision and plan more Bike to Brentford matchdays in the new season.

"The results should signal that more Brentford fans than you might realise would be happy to talk about sustainability. Having these conversations before, during and after the game is important for keeping our momentum going, bringing more people into the discussion, and ensuring that we’re all working together to protect the future of the club and our community."
