Lens’s breakout performer Mamadou Sangaré is in very advanced talks with Brentford over a transfer. Crystal Palace could yet make a higher offer.

He travelled with his Lens team-mates for Tuesday afternoon’s stadium inspection at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in Como, but looked distracted and did not step on the pitch. According to L'Équipe, he is on the verge of a move and no risks were taken with him.

A fee in the region of €48m has been discussed. That figure would represent the biggest outgoing transfer in Lens’s history.

Brentford are pushing to complete a deal, while Palace’s interest means competition remains possible.

For now, Lens are handling the matter carefully around the group as talks develop.
