Brentford are sweating on Mikkel Damsgaard’s fitness for Saturday’s trip to Leeds after the attacker went off in Monday’s 2-2 draw with Wolves. He took a knock shortly before Tolu Arokodare’s 77th-minute equaliser and was replaced by Kristoffer Ajer.
The Bees had led 2-0 through first-half goals from Michael Kayode and Igor Thiago inside 37 minutes. Adam Armstrong halved the deficit before the break, then Arokodare levelled in the second half.
Keith Andrews said: “He will be a concern and I haven’t spoken to the medics yet. He had an injury a few weeks ago against Forest. It has been frustrating and he has played through a lot of pain, so we have to see how he is.” He was speaking to West London Sport.
Damsgaard has three goals and four assists in 26 Premier League appearances this season, 18 of them starts. He came off the bench for 30 minutes in December’s 1-1 draw with Leeds.
The Forest match referenced was on 25 January, when he went off with a knee issue after 36 minutes and then missed one league game. He has since featured in seven matches across all competitions, completing 90 minutes only twice.
He will be assessed later this week and could join an injury list that already includes Vitaly Janelt, Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey until after the March international break. Josh Dasilva, Antoni Milambo and Fabio Carvalho are likely out for the season.
Brentford have won only one of their last five league games, a 4-3 at Burnley, and have drawn the last two. “We should have managed the game better and performed better in the second half,” Andrews said.
