Brest have confirmed Julien Lachuer as head coach on a two-year deal, succeeding Eric Roy, who died of cancer on 17 June.
The club said in a statement that Roy had asked for Lachuer to continue his work, and that the 49-year-old accepted the role ahead of the restart on Thursday 2 July.
Lachuer has been at Stade Brestois since 2005, arriving as a goalkeeper. After retiring in 2010 he joined the staff, first as goalkeeping coach, before becoming assistant in 2022.
He took interim charge alongside Bruno Grougi and fitness coach Yvan Bourgis after Michel Der Zakarian was sacked at the end of 2022. His responsibilities then grew under Roy.
Since May 2025 he has held the BEPF, the licence required to coach in Ligue 1.
