Stade Brestois returned on Saturday with a pre-season opener against US Concarneau, their first outing since the death of former coach Eric Roy.

According to L'Équipe, the Ligue 1 side took to the pitch in Douarnenez, where supporters paid tribute before kick-off.

A minute's applause was observed by fans and players from both teams, and a banner in the stands read "RIP King Eric".

Since Roy died on 17 June after a long illness, a plaque and a mural have been installed at Francis-Le Blé in his honour, while OGC Nice has renamed its press room after him.

For Brest's first home fixture of the season, the Quimper stand will be closed, so it cannot take part in the tribute, with a tifo planned elsewhere.
