With Grégory Lorenzi nearing an exit from Stade Brestois, the Breton club are potentially in the market for a new sporting director this summer, and their attention has turned to the Director of Paris Saint-Germain’s Academy, Yohan Cabaye, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Lorenzi is attracting interest from clubs across France, however, his most likely destination is OGC Nice. Le Gym are long-term admirers and the sporting director role at the club is expected to be vacated by Florian Maurice at the end of the season.
However, Lorenzi won’t depart without a replacement being found. Brest have now set their sights on Cabaye. The former PSG and Newcastle United midfielder has been the Director of Les Parisiens’ Academy since October 2024 and recently acquired the UEFA Pro Licence, which will allow him to exercise functions at a professional club.
Cabaye himself feels ready to assume the role of sporting director at a Ligue 1 club and he may make that step come the summer. There would be a lot of work at Brest, with many of the club’s players out of contract at the end of next season.
