Brian Brobbey £34m ‘to tempt’ Juventus as Sunderland ‘to monitor’ Pape Gueye | OneFootball

Sunderland have been linked with Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye as Everton weigh up midfield changes after Idrissa Gana Gueye became a free agent. TEAMtalk reports that Everton are considering the 27-year-old and that Crystal Palace, Brighton and Sunderland are monitoring his situation.

Gueye moved from Marseille to Villarreal in 2024 and has been influential in LaLiga, operating as a defensive midfielder and box-to-box.

At Goodison Park, Idrissa Gana Gueye’s contract has expired while he remains on World Cup duty with Senegal, and talks could resume after the tournament. Everton are also expected to complete the signing of Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, with an initial £16.5m fee reportedly agreed, and may still seek another addition.

In Italy, Tuttomercatoweb claims Brian Brobbey has been offered to Juventus as they search for attacking reinforcements, potentially as an alternative to Randal Kolo Muani. The report suggests a fee between £30.1m and £34.4m could start a conversation.

That valuation is viewed with caution on Wearside. Brobbey only joined last summer and is central to Sunderland’s Premier League project, so any talks would likely require a far higher figure. It is also difficult to envisage Sunderland inviting interest while uncertainty persists around Granit Xhaka.

The Netherlands’ World Cup exit means Brobbey will now return to Sunderland after an impressive international summer. His displays have naturally sparked fresh speculation, but the club aim to reintegrate a key forward as focus turns to pre-season and the Premier League.
