Fabian Hurzeler has set out his expectations for Diego Coppola’s Paris FC loan and underlined Albion’s longer-term planning at centre-back.
According to TheArgus.co.uk, the 22-year-old has joined Paris FC for the rest of the season after limited minutes. He is contracted until 2030, having arrived from Hellas Verona last summer on a potentially bargain deal.
Hurzeler said the club see him more for the future and praised his attitude. He wants Coppola to sharpen details in possession and looks forward to working with a player he believes has big potential.
Coppola developed as a no-nonsense defender in Serie A with Verona, a team who often had little of the ball.
Igor has returned from West Ham and will help see Albion through to season’s end. He is eligible for the FA Cup.
Adam Webster is recovering from a serious knee injury and is aiming to be back for pre-season, if not before.
By then, Jan Paul van Hecke will be a year from the end of his deal, Coppola will return, and Lewis Dunk will be nearing his 35th birthday. Olivier Boscagli is tied down for a further four seasons.
Albion have been linked with Toulouse and England under-21 centre-back Charlie Cresswell, although his club will not let him go at the moment. They are also linked with 19-year-old Atalanta centre-back Relja Obric. Eiran Cashin is on their books and Freddie Simmonds, who went to the under-17s World Cup with England, is progressing.
