Brighton & Hove Albion are keeping close tabs on Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as they weigh up a summer move for the exciting gem, according to The Telegraph.

The Seagulls are among several Premier League clubs monitoring the Senegal international after his impressive displays at club and international stage.

Camara has become a key figure for Monaco since arriving from Metz two years ago and enjoyed another productive Ligue 1 campaign.

He scored three goals and created eight big chances in 24 league appearances.

His composure, technical quality and relentless energy have caught the attention of scouts across England.

However, Brighton won’t enjoy a clear run at the midfielder.

Newcastle United and Liverpool are also understood to be weighing up potential offers for a player valued at around £35 million.

Camara’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable.

After starring for Senegal’s youth sides, he swept the individual awards at both the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2023.

He earned Player of the Tournament honours in both competitions.

Those performances convinced Metz to bring him to France before Monaco quickly secured his signature, and he was crowned CAF Young Player of the Year in early 2024.

A graduate of the famed Generation Foot academy, Camara has followed a similar path to that of Liverpool legend Sadio Mane.

Statistically, the Senegalese midfielder already compares favourably with many of the Premier League’s top central midfielders.

His dead-ball delivery is among his standout strengths, consistently creating danger from free-kicks and corners.

His defensive work rate and ball-winning ability make him a complete modern midfielder.

There is still room for improvement in open-play creativity, where he could become more assertive between the lines.

Even so, Camara possesses the technical quality, maturity and winning mentality to become a major success in England, making him a coup for whichever club wins the race.
