Brighton & Hove Albion have submitted a £30 million bid to Tottenham Hotspur for highly-rated defender Luka Vuskovic.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a magnificent 2025/26 campaign on loan with Hamburger in Germany, scoring six goals and anchoring his side’s defence with maturity well beyond his years.

His performances not only guided Hamburg to top-flight survival through a demanding season; they also earned the teenager a spot in the Bundesliga Team of the Season and a nomination for the league’s prestigious Young Player of the Season award alongside the likes of RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.

While Vuskovic has been largely expected to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season to fight for a place under Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton are now seeking to secure the Croatian on a permanent basis.

Spurs consider the young defender a foundational pillar of their long-term sporting vision and are operating from a position of total financial strength with Vuskovic under contract in North London until June 2030.

However, the defender could choose to leave this summer if there is no guaranteed pathway to first-team action. Brighton could have an edge in their pursuit of Vuskovic, given that Spurs are interested in signing Jan Paul Van Hecke.

Any definitive resolution will likely be frozen until the conclusion of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in North America, where Vuskovic is set to be in action with the Croatia national team.

Nevertheless, Brighton have drawn their battle lines early, signalling they are prepared to spend heavily to secure Europe’s most coveted young defensive anchors.
