Brighton & Hove Albion are in talks with Amario Cozier-Duberry over a new contract, with the winger on a season-long loan at Bolton Wanderers in League One.
According to NY Times, the south-coast club want to keep the former Arsenal winger beyond his existing deal, which runs to June 2028. The 20-year-old is well known to sporting director Jason Ayto, who began at Arsenal as an academy analyst.
If fresh terms are agreed, Brighton will decide in the summer whether to loan him out again or keep him with Fabian Hurzeler’s first-team squad. The likelihood of the latter would rise if they qualify for Europe, creating a heavier schedule.
Cozier-Duberry is drawing interest from clubs in Germany, Portugal and Belgium, as well as within the UK.
Signed on a free from Arsenal in the 2024 summer window, the right winger has flourished at Bolton after a less successful 2024-25 loan with Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.
He has impressed under former Stoke City manager Steve Schumacher, operating as an inverted winger in a 4-2-3-1 similar to Hurzeler’s blueprint at Brighton.
His momentum was checked by a knee ligament injury from late January, but he has returned strongly. He scored twice on his first start back in a 5-1 home win against Stevenage last week.
Cozier-Duberry has nine goals in 36 appearances for Bolton in all competitions this season, and eight goals with 10 assists in 32 league games. Bolton are third and heading for the play-offs.
